Business Process Management Services

BPM is a new way to automate manual processes at a dramatically lower cost than possible even a few years ago.  It is not about doing something completely new.  We could automate these activities with the technologies of 30 years ago.  It's just that there is now a positive return on investment because of the new low cost of doing so, where it was rarely cost/effective in past. Summed over the large number of manual tasks throughout most back offices, the ability to dramatically improve productivity with short payback periods is compelling.

Key Benefits

  • Productivity: do more work with fewer people
  • Happier staff: eliminate drudge work
  • Better service to customers

Capabilities

Process survey
Review business processes that are candidates for optimization, and rank according to a preliminary estimate of ROI.  In general, the 80-20 rule will apply: you will get 80% of the benefits from automating 20% of the processes.

Process modeling
The first step is to model the selected candidate processes in full detail. Using a standardized notation such as UML or BPMN, the process is depicted graphically rendering it immediately accessible to workers, business analysts, programmer analysts, and solution architects.

Process automation and optimization
From the process model, manual tasks are analyzed for automation suitability and effort, and a new process model derived with a combination of newly automated and necessarily manual tasks.  Then, the overall process will be reviewed with an eye to accomplishing the business purpose in a new way made possible by automation.

Design and implementation plan
A comprehensive design document is produced from the optimized process model, accompanied by an implementation plan either for traditional waterfall projects or for agile projects.

Integration with services oriented architectures and legacy architectures
The implementation plan will include integration with your current and evolving IT architectures.

Implementation oversight or full responsibility
We can provide project oversight for the implementation by staff or a third party vendor, or we can provide one stop shopping by bringing in a services vendor from our network.
